Leading Thinkers To Expound on Purported
“Epochal Revelation To Humankind”
The “Evolutionary Revelation” Retreat Convenes on June 14-15 at Marin Headlands
(Sausalito, CA) The Golden Gate National Recreation Area is the setting for an unusual retreat on June 14-15, as a dozen leading experts on The Urantia Book introduce for the first time in public what they believe is an epochal revelation to humankind. Meeting at a YMCA atop a bluff adjacent to the Golden Gate Bridge, attendees will learn about the 2,096-page tome that has been treasured as an underground masterpiece for decades by intellectuals and artists. Among these are Jerry Garcia, Carlos Santana, Jimmi Hendrix, and even the likes of Marianne Williamson, Bill Clinton, and thinkers like Deepak Chopra. Impressed by its riches and the movement gathering around it, UC Berkeley theologian Dr. Ted Peters is among those who will speak at the event, as well as renowned novelist Elizabeth Engstrom.
Legendary Text Seen as “Underground Masterpiece”
First published in 1955, The Urantia Book has sold over a million copies worldwide and has been translated into 19 languages. “A half million Urantia Books have been purchased in the U.S.,” says Byron Belitsos, conference convener and awarding-winning publisher of numerous books about the Urantia Revelation. “But few people are able to plumb its incredible depths on their own or in small groups. Our event offers an unprecedented chance to learn about this wide-ranging work from some of it finest teachers, authors, and healers.”
Eight special presentations emceed by Belitsos will canvass the key tenets of the massive work that is said to be authored by dozens of celestial beings. In addition, attendees will discover advanced spiritual practices, work with healers, and learn how to participate in creating a movement for “planetary reclamation,” which adherents believe is being led by the unseen authors of the Urantia Revelation.
The method by which the Urantia text was transmitted is not yet well understood, but court records from a copyright lawsuit indicate that the book was the product of over twenty years of interactions of a corps of high celestial beings with a group of several hundred humans based in Chicago. Their purported interaction began in 1923, and was led by a famous physician and author of that period, Dr. William S. Sadler. Because the original publisher, the Urantia Foundation, was unable to provide a U.S. Appeals Court evidence of an author, the Urantia text was recently declared public domain. ###
