Dear reader, it is a delight for me to offer you our Universe Parents’ loving insights into the nature and the adventure of being human, all based on advanced concepts derived straight from the heart of the Urantia Revelation.

urport to be, and are sincerely believed to be, direct transmissions from Michael and Mother Spirit. As described in the comprehensive cosmology of The Urantia Book, Michael is a “Creator Son of God” and Mother Spirit is a “Creator Daughter of God.” Being our immediate and closest creator parents, they are responsible for the very design of the personal beings that we are—the living pattern we know of as a human being. Whether recognized as our Universe Parents or not, we believe that Michael and Mother Spirit have answered the prayers of all humankind from the very beginning, in and through those men and women who yearned for their loving contact. These recent transmissions are only another tiny link in that unbroken chain.
As they present themselves to us in these papers, Mother Spirit is the originator and sustainer of all planetary life on millions of inhabited worlds in our part of the galaxy. Her spirit has long been recognized on earth as the animating Holy Spirit, or Great Spirit, appearing in some form in every religion and every era of human history beginning from the most primitive. But what is not so universally recognized by previous teachings on our planet is now provided in the rich detail in The Urantia Book. For as a daughter of Infinite Spirit (the third person of the Trinity), her Holy Spirit is literally part of our human mindedness; we are taught in The Urantia Book that she is the very source of our own innate abilities of intuition, knowledge, understanding, courage, gregariousness, worship, and wisdom. In other words, our minds, while resting and dependent upon physical brain activity, are not limited to it. All of our key mental functions are being augmented by her, and in fact are sourced from her. We literally live and experience our lives within the dimensions of her consciousness. Her Holy Spirit is an integral part of us.
Our Creator Son Michael is our immediate Father Spirit, and as earlier pointed out is most widely known on earth by the human life he lived here as Jesus of Nazareth. The Urantia Book at times gives us a day by day account of his personal experiences while on Earth. While he and Mother Spirit together designed our human reality, his is also a companion spiritual presence—a brother and close friend ever near. His spiritual presence, the Spirit of Truth, indwells us as a power and joyful orientation toward an eternal adventure of discovery of what is true. More immediately, his spirit is a differential urge for us to be open-minded and to embrace and entertain, always, more than we already know and have accepted as true, just in order to grow.
Given the fact of God’s omniscience and Michael’s and Mother Spirit’s partaking of this divine attribute, we are utterly transparent to them with our unique personalities and soul experience. From their side there is no separation, yet from the standpoint of our finite and limited human sense of selfhood, we can feel separation, even spiritual loneliness. And yet we can develop the ability to feel their presence within us, consciously.
This intrinsic intimacy is a key component of the special activity that has made these transcripts possible. We call it transmitting-receiving, or T/R-ing, and the transmitter is often called the T/R. When I sense the presence of a spirit being, I step off into a highly conscious meditative activity. I position myself in a place of openness and receptivity wherein it’s impossible to anticipate what’s coming next. This, of course, is the essential value of being a T/R: the words are not ours. They are not originating in our personalities, even though the language of a given transmission is somewhat conditioned by the very nature of each T/R’s usage in thought and expression.
If you come to wonder if what we have recorded and provided for the T/R in this book is true or not, you the reader must decide like anything else: How does it resonate within you? These transcripts have happily resonated with our small group of students whose questions pepper these sessions.
The T/R process is very highly conscious, not a trance state of mind, for you do know and can make sense of what is coming through you, but only instantaneously as it happens. You have to just-let-it-happen—as totally and transparently as you can. In other words, you can’t react with the thoughts occurring in your mind as you might usually do. Any reactions to the thoughts—the resurgence of your own self-created ideas within your mind—immediately stops the flow. And you can’t anticipate. For how can you, by yourself, anticipate what illimitable spiritual beings of incomprehensible creative power and love want to say through you? This setting-yourself-aside—highly consciously—takes a little practice; but it does get better—hopefully forever.
So this is really different. It’s rewarding and fun because you can have an expanded sense of Michael’s and Mother Spirit’s presence within and all about you as the transmission is occurring. Since you don’t actively react with their thoughts, but only speak or write them, when it’s over there’s little detailed memory of the event. Then it’s even more rewarding and fun on the playback or re-reading of the session when you once again hear or see what was said. Even more delightful: it makes sense: it is internally comprehensive and consistent. In practice and after viewing a wide number of these transmissions from various localities all over the United States and the world—(see Appendix C, “The Discernment of Spirits: A Brief History of the Teaching Mission”)—it is apparent that each one is also colored by the T/R’s general cultural background as well as his or her prime attitude toward reality, be it emotional, psychological, philosophical, scientific, or religious and/or spiritual; or usually a combination of all of these. Yet in spite of these often limiting orientations, people truly can give these spiritual beings voice. Through dozens of different T/R’s their divine personalities come unmistakably shining like white light streaming through the prisms of living people. We’ve been finding transmitting/receiving a lively, loving, teasing, insightful ride, and we heartily invite you to come along. You might even want to try it yourself.
